‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ actor Andre Braugher’s cause of death revealed

Andre Braugher died after a battle with lung cancer.

His rep confirmed to The Post on Thursday that the “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” actor was diagnosed with the disease a few months before he died on Monday at 61.

When announcing the actor’s death Tuesday, the rep said only that Braugher passed after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife, actress Ami Brabson, sons Michael, Isaiah and John Wesley, brother Charles Jennings and mother Sally Braugher.

The two-time Emmy winner was known for his roles as Detective Frank Pembleton on “Homicide: Life on the Street” and Captain Raymond Holt on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”

Many of Braugher’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” co-stars reacted to his death on social media, including Terry Crews.

“Can’t believe you’re gone so soon,” Crews wrote Tuesday on Instagram

“I’m honored to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you and shared 8 glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent. This hurts. You left us too soon,” the “White Chicks” alum, 55, went on.

He added that Braugher “taught me so much” and thanked him for “your wisdom, your advice, your kindness and your friendship.”

“Rest In Peace, Andre. I love you, man,” Crews concluded.

Chelsea Peretti — who portrayed Gina Linetti in the comedy — also shared her condolences, writing: “You were so funny to me and the epitome of still waters run deep.”

“I will always cherish our conversations, often with me hanging in your doorway barring your exit, and the insane opportunity to be your sidekick,” the 45-year-old wrote.

“Is it weird that I am also grieving for what Captain Holt meant to Gina?” the actress continued. “I really hoped and knew I would see you again. Hate that I won’t.”

The show’s official Instagram account also shared a heartfelt photo of the late actor in his TV police uniform.

“Always our Captain. We love you, Andre,” the caption read.
