Lana Del Rey’s Glastonbury Nightmare: How She Lost Her Mic, Her Fans, and Her Hair

Lana Del Rey is no stranger to controversy, but her latest performance at the 2023 Glastonbury Festival was a disaster of epic proportions. The singer, who was headlining the Other Stage on Saturday night, showed up 30 minutes late, blamed her hair for the delay, and had her mic cut off mid-song by the festival organizers. Here’s what went wrong for the star, and how she tried to salvage the situation.

Lana Del Rey was supposed to take the stage at 10:30 p.m., but she kept her fans waiting until 11 p.m., without any explanation or apology. When she finally appeared, she seemed flustered and frustrated, saying: “I was so fu**ing livid that I am about to rush this set today. If they cut power, they cut power, I’m super fu**ing sorry. My hair takes so long to do, I love you. Let’s keep on running this set as it’s supposed to go.”

She then launched into a promising setlist that included songs from her latest album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard, as well as some of her classics like “Young and Beautiful” and “Born to Die”. She also debuted an unreleased track called “Bittersweet Anthem”, which she said was inspired by her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Sean Larkin. She sounded confident and passionate, and her fans cheered her on.

However, things took a turn for the worse when she reached the song “White Mustang”, which was supposed to be followed by six more songs, including her biggest hit, “Video Games”. As she sang the chorus, her mic suddenly went silent, and the lights went off. She looked shocked and confused, as did her fans. She then realized that she had exceeded the strict curfew of midnight, and that the festival had cut off her power.

She tried to continue singing without the mic, but it was barely audible. She then decided to jump off the stage and walk along the barrier, trying to interact with her fans and sing with them. She also attempted to lead a fan singalong of “Video Games”, which her fans continued to sing as she walked offstage.

It was a heartbreaking and humiliating end to what could have been a triumphant performance for Lana Del Rey. Many of her fans and fellow singers expressed their outrage and sympathy on social media, calling out the festival for being unfair and disrespectful to her. Some also speculated that her late arrival was due to a backstage dispute with the festival organizers over her billing and placement on the poster.

Lana Del Rey has not commented on the incident yet, but she is expected to release a statement soon. She is also scheduled to perform at other festivals this summer, such as Lollapalooza in Chicago and Primavera Sound in Barcelona. Hopefully, she will have better luck and more time at those venues.
